Rob's Recap SVC League Champions

Hi Everyone,

League finals went very well for the Oak Ridge cross country teams. The varsity boys, varsity girls, and F/S boys teams won league finals These three teams are league champions for the Sierra Valley Conference. The varsity boys scored 19 points and Ponderosa placed second with 53 points. The varsity girls scored 20 points and Vista del Lago placed second with 50 points. The F/S boys scored a perfect score of 15 points and Christian Brothers placed second with 55 points. Oak Ridge had three F/S girls race in the F/S girls race, so there was no team score for Oak Ridge.

The varsity boys were led by first through fourth place finishes from Amjed Aboukhadijeh, Nathan Williams, Benji Xie, and Jeroen Keukenkamp. These four boys all finished within a second of each other. Zach Speno placed 9th for the varsity boys to complete the team scoring for the Trojans. The top 5 varsity boys all earned All-League patches for their performances. All 5 of these boys ran very good times on the relatively fast Granite Regional Park 5 kilometer course.

The varsity girls were led by Hayley Scott's 1st place finish. Hayley ran a very good time of 18:33 to beat Madeline Ankhelyi of Vista del Lago by 4 seconds. The next four varsity girls raced very well turning in their best times of the season. Samantha Ralstin (3rd place, 18:48), Jackie Mansoor (4th place, 18:51), Maxine Goyette (5th place, 18:55), and Brittney Putman (7th place, 19:02) all had very solid performances. All five of the top 5 varsity girls earned All-League patches.

The F/S boys were led by the trio of Parker Prestegard, Dusty Armstrong, and Evan Baxter. These three boys finished first through third. and they were within a second of each other. Jake Zeltner, Zach Thornton, and Marcos Conde raced very well to place 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively. Evan Scherzinger placed 8th for Trojans in the F/S race. The F/S boys raced extremely well. Having 7 runners place in the top 8 is an outstanding accomplishment. The F/S boys certainly set the stage for the rest of the Oak Ridge teams with their great team racing at the beginning of the meet. Several of the F/S boys set personal bests for the season. The F/S races were 2 miles

Mia Brower, Pari Javaheri, and Hailey Heil raced very well in the F/S girls race. They placed 8th, 10th, and 19th respectively. All three of these girls set personal bests.

The next meet for the Oak Ridge cross country teams is the subsection meet at Angels Camp on Saturday, November 7th. The first race for the Trojans will be the Freshmen Boys D1/D2 race at 9:30 am. The Oak Ridge cross country athletes are looking forward to competing at the subsection meet. They are going to be getting in some good training over the next eight days to get prepared to race at Angels Camp
